- Oxygen: Administer high-flow oxygen to prevent hypoxia
- Antibiotics: Administer intravenous (IV) antibiotics promptly.
- IV fluids: Start intravenous fluid resuscitation if the patient is hypotensive or has a high lactate level.
TAKE 3
- Blood Cultures: Identify the organism.
- Urine Output: Commence hourly urine output monitoring (may require a catheter) to evaluate kidney function and cardiac output.
- Lactate: Check serum lactate levels and a full blood count to assess tissue perfusion and illness severity.
